Our story

Like all good things these days, Richa and Sagar's story began with AI. Specifically, the office hours of their Artificial Intelligence class in the fall of their junior year at Columbia, where the two met in a chance encounter out of two hundred students. Over the next year they went from nods in the hallways, to chatting after class, to working in Mudd on problem sets and grabbing Haagen Dazs to celebrate submissions, and to genuine friends.

While perhaps obvious to their friends during the beginning of their senior year, it was only later in the semester that they both realized they wanted their friendship to blossom into something more. Sagar asked Richa out to dinner at the campus Thai restaurant, where Richa interrogated Sagar about his love languages, and was happy to hear that his giving language was acts of service. Over the course of their senior year, they developed a deep bond over burning their tongues on the dining hall's hot chocolates, Richa's favorite spots around her childhood city, and many late nights with their suitemates. Despite only dating for a few months, they decided to make the plunge into long distance as Sagar stayed in New York for his masters and Richa started her exciting new chapter in the Bay Area.

Over the next two and a half years they weathered COVID by working on intricate puzzles with Richa's roommates, nightly Facetimes and crosswords, and built their early careers on opposite coasts. Thankfully, long distance improved to medium distance when Sagar moved to San Francisco and they traded coast-crossing red-eyes for weekly trips on the Caltrain. In 2023, they finally reunited to be in the same city when Richa moved in with one of her closest friends, and joined Sagar in San Francisco. Over the course of two years, they deepened their relationship not just with each other, but with their community in SF composed of wonderful friends, coworkers, and family, and began thinking about where life should take them next.

After starting their MBAs at HBS together, it took another year to get a ring and put a plan in place amidst the craziness and liveliness of the program. Sagar asked Richa to marry him in August of 2025 when they were on vacation in Mallorca, and she said yes!

Post graduation, they stayed on the East Coast to be closer to their families and friends (old & new), and moved back to New York, where their journey meets today. They can't wait to celebrate with all of you who have touched their lives so deeply and irrevocably. Let the fun begin!
